Town Elections to Be Held Tomorrow

All three towns in Mitchell and Yancey counties will hold town elections tomorrow. Bakersville has two incumbents running for the town council, Charlie Nash and Beau Thomas. The third person vying for the two seats is Andy Palmer. In Spruce Pine the town council is uncontested so James Acuff and Rocky Buchanan will retain their seats. Watchdog Group Appointed for HCA

Dogwood Trust, which was created from the sale of Mission Health to HCA has selected an independent watchdog group. Gibbins Advisors is charged with ensuring HCA is committed to providing quality health care throughout the area. Gibbins is based out of New York State. Animal Cruelty Charges

Mitchell County Sheriff Donald Street has posted arrest charges information on the Sheriff’s Department Facebook page. They’ve done it again! The Bailey Mountain Cloggers, Mars Hill University’s championship precision clogging team, won yet another national title at the America’s Clogging Hall of Fame (ACHF) National Clogging Championships in Gatlinburg, Tenn., October 25 and 26.
