Avery High School Construction/Renovations Move Forward

Barker Sentenced to Prison for Assault

On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, Jeremy Glenn Barker, age 38, was convicted of one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury. Missing Person Rescued

At 11:30pm on May 6th South Toe Fire and Rescue and several other agencies were dispatched to Black Mountain Campground in reference to a missing 28 year old male. After hours of searching the missing person was found by Yancey Rescue personnel at 9 am the next day. He had suffered severe dehydration and mild hypothermia.
