Yancey County Drive Thru Testing Today (5/14/20)

Drive thru testing for COVID-19 will begin at 9am in Burnsville. The testing will be at the Yancey County Health Department from 9am until 3:30pm. Anyone who would like to be tested, regardless of symptoms, is welcome to participate. Health officials said the reasons for drive through testing are twofold. Spruce Pine Cancellations & Closures

Yesterday afternoon (05/13/2020) the Town of Spruce Pine and Spruce Pine Main Street announced on social media a number of Cancellations and Closures of activities planned for this summer in Spruce Pine. The Town announced that there would be no July 4th Fireworks in Spruce Pine they also announced that the Swimming Pool at Brad Ragan Park would not operate this summer. Yancey County Lifts Recommended Suspension of Short-Term Rentals

Mitchell Sheriff’s Report 5/2 – 5/9/20

Eric Eugene Houck, 42, of 55 Trails Inn, Marion NC. Mitchell County Deputies arrested Houck for Traffic related offenses for outstanding warrants issued from McDowell County. Drive thru testing for COVID-19 started last week in Avery County and the Toe River Health District says they will soon be conducting drive through testing in Mitchell and Yancey Counties too.
